President Olusegun Obasango

President Olusegun Obasanjo will embark on a four day state visit to the the United Kingdom in September 2000.

The Nigerian High Commission in London is hosting President Obasanjo from the 14th to 16th Sept. The President has requested that the High Commission organise a forum of Nigerians to participate in a two day seminar.

It is called the Millennium Conference. He has requested that the High Commission invite Nigerians from all over Europe to attend. The President himself will be attending this seminar.

Prince Ajibola,
Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom

Participation is by invitation only. Invitations are free and can be obtained by contacting the Nigerian High Commission in London. Contact details can be found at the Nigerian High Commission website which can be found at http://www.nigeriahouseuk.com

Nigeria.com is teaming up with the High Commission to allow Nigerians that can not attend the seminar to also participate.

The seminar will be made up of four sessions:

  1. Healthcare delivery in Nigeria: The contribution of Nigerians in Diaspora
  2. Globalisation And Its Implications For Nigeria
  3. Investment Challenges and Expectations of Nigerians In Diaspora
  4. Development of Software as Enterprise In Nigeria

We have created a forum called the Millennium Conference @ Nigeria.com , where people can voice their opinions and discuss relevant issues pertaining to these questions.

Each of the above topics has its own discussion forum. The discussions that you have, via the forums, will be made available to the seminar moderators  who will endeavour to inject your ideas into the seminar discussion.

We will also hope to cover the seminars live ,on the 15th and 16th Sept, in the Nigeria.com chat rooms. Special Chat rooms will be set up on the day for each of the seminar topics. The proceedings of the seminar will be broadcast live in the chat room so you will be able to follow the seminar in real time.

The chat rooms will also enable participants on the Internet to participate in the seminar in real time, by asking questions via the chat rooms. The transcripts will then be saved and made available after the seminar at on the Millennium website.

This will be the first time ANY African nation has undertaken such an endeavour and it's our chance to show the world that Nigerians can compete on technically on the world stage. It is also YOUR chance to have a DIRECT input into the direction that Nigeria takes.

President Obasanjo has thrown down the gauntlet. It's up to us to take up the challenge.
